OPOS Recipe #1 Protein rich Panchratna Dal Rice Recipe

When it comes to one pot one shot cooking, there are different choices of food in different countries. People in Spain make Spanish Steam Paella which is considered as the healthy and easy diet in Spain. While the Italian prepares creamy Risotto and Americans and British prefers varieties of Pastas.

Today, let us learn a healthy One pot one shot recipe of Indian Style that is enriched with proteins and vitamins!

Protein rich Panchratna Dal Rice Recipe

Ingredients:
¼ cup of mixed Pancharatna Dal (includes Arhal (toor) dal, Moong dal, white urad dal, chana dal and red masoor dal)
¼ cup of brown rice
¼ cup of white rice
¼ top of turmeric
1 ½ tbsp oil
1 tbsp cumin seeds
2 pieces of cloves
1 small piece of cinnamon
1 small piece of ginger
1 green chilli (can be increased as per taste required)
1 sprig of curry leaves
A pinch of Asafoetida
Salt as required

Post cooking preparations

  • Soak all the dals for approximately 2 hours. (Approx)
  • soak the white and brown rice for 2 hours. (Approx)

Preparation:

  • Take a pressure cooker.
  • Heat oil/butter.  
  • Add cumin seeds, cloves, and cinnamon.
  • Then add ginger and spills of green chilli along with curry leaves.
  • Fill it with 2 ½ cups of water and heat it
  • Now add the soaked dal and rice to the boiling water.
  • Add salt as required and mix well so that the taste of the seasoning gets mixed well.
  • When starts boiling add a tbsp of ghee and mix well.
  • You can add water according to the thickness required.
  • Close the lid and pressure cook it.
  • Make sure you cook for 2 - 3 whistles.
  • Make sure the dal and rice do not get overcooked or burn.

Serve it hot and enjoy it when you don’t have time to cook a long menu!
